Cases heard at Blackburn Magistrates Court:

  • David Alston, 28, of Mount Pleasant Street, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was given a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, with a supervision requirement, 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement, ordered to pay £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 32 months, reduced by 32 weeks if he completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.
  • John James Stokes, 31, of Clifford Road, Clifford Lodge, was found guilty of theft and pleaded guilty to failing to surrender into custody having been released on bail. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge, ordered to pay £250 costs and fined £50.
  • Scott Ryan Worthington, 27, of Albert Street, Clayton-le-Moors, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath during the course of an investigation. He was given a 20-week jail sentence, suspended for 24 months, ordered to pay £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 32 months, reduced by 32 weeks if he completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.
  • Jonathan Nathaniel Stephenson, 24, of Lewis Street, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to speeding. He was fined £40, ordered to pay £85 costs and given three points on his driving licence.
  • Andrew John Harry Cowburn, 31, of Parker Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating. He was given a four-week community order with a curfew requirement, ordered to pay £150 compensation and £85 costs.
  • Zahoor Alam, 37, of Richmond Hill Street, Accrington, was found guilty of assault by beating. He was given a 12-month restraining order, fined £165, ordered to pay £80 compensation and £235 costs.
  • Mark Ferguson, 45, of Knowles Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and drug driving. He was given a 12-month community order with a five-day rehabilitation activity requirement, 200 hours’ unpaid work, ordered to pay £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
  • Rachael Elizabeth Crawshaw, 41, of Spring Street, Accrington, was found guilty in her absence of using a television without a licence. She was fined £60 and ordered to pay £60 costs.
  • William Hogg, 31, of Talbot Street, Rishton, was found guilty in his absence of using a television without a licence. He was fined £60 and ordered to pay £60 costs.
  • Lee Walker, 39, of Devonshire Drive, Clayton-le-Moors, was found guilty in his absence of using a television without a licence. He was fined £60 and ordered to pay £60 costs.
  • Philip Greham, 46, of Norfolk Grove, Church, was found guilty in his absence of entering a train without having a valid ticket. He was fined £220, ordered to pay £3.20 compensation and £150 costs.
  • David Thomas, 23, of Cross Street, Accrington, was found guilty in his absence of travelling on a railway without having previously paid the fare. He was fined £440, ordered to pay £7.80 compensation and £150 costs.
  • Ryan Wilson, 21, of Lydia Street, Accrington, was found guilty in his absence of travelling on a railway without having previously paid the fare. He was fined £440, ordered to pay £12.70 compensation and £150 costs.
  • Kristian Jordan Keenan, 24, of Duke Street, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and resisting a police officer in the execution of her duty. He was given a 12-month community order with a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 150 hours’ unpaid work.
  • Michael Stephen Hawley, 33, of Curlew Close, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to using a car without insurance and driving without a licence. He was fined £185, ordered to pay £85 costs and given six points on his driving licence.

  • Andrew George Taylor, 29, of Midland Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to theft. He was given a six-month conditional discharge, ordered to pay £65 compensation and £85 costs.
