A £150,000 changing room complex is set to open at Hyndburn Leisure Centre.

Hyndburn council received a £139,567 grant from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund to convert the old squash court and will include two team changing rooms, two officials’ changing room and a club room to compliment the 3G pitch. The council contributed £10,000 out of its own funds.

Accrington Stanley Community Trust , which uses the leisure centre as a home for matches and training sessions, is set to benefit from the development, as well as other clubs in the area, to host competitive football fixtures.

The Trust will also deliver its community programme from the site and run small-sided leagues, with a strong focus on girls’ football.

The facility will be opened by Hyndburn council on Wednesday, March 9.

A Football Foundation spokesperson said: “Hyndburn Leisure and Accrington Stanley Community Trust worked in partnership with the Lancashire FA to secure a £139,567 grant from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund.

“Since 2000 the Football Foundation Funding Partners’ investment has provided 438 grants worth £19.6m towards grassroots sports projects worth over £46.4m across the whole of Lancashire.”
