Hyndburn Macmillan Cancer Support group have raised an astonishing £55,000 for the charity in 2013.
The Observer reported earlier this year how the group had raised more than £40,000 in its 40th anniversary year.
However they have now smashed the target by £15,000 and are thanking their supporters.
The last cheque was presented to by The Greenfield Community Residents Community Centre in Haslingden today who raised £1,100 in memory of lost loved ones who have had the support of Macmillan Nurses.
Susan Johnson, chairperson and her committee thanked the community for their support over the year as they held collections in local supermarkets,
Christmas fairs, fashion shows, ladies lunches, people who have coffee mornings, raffles, s Leeds/Liverpool Canal walk and other events.
Jeanette Parks from the group added: "To raise such an amount of money is staggering and just brilliant.
"Next year the committee hold their AGM in February and will start all over again."
They are now asking for support for their next fundraising activity, a Kilimanjaro climb.
Jim Donohoe is doing this in memory of both his late wife Barbara and her sister Marie.
