A kitchen was badly damaged by heat and smoke after a tumble dryer caught fire.

Two fire crews from Hyndburn were called to Stanley Street in Accrington at around 2.30pm on Monday, April 6.

A fire service spokesperson said: “The occupiers did the correct thing by closing the door and then evacuated, calling the fire service.

“Because of their actions of closing the door and a quick call to 999, the damage was kept to the kitchen only.”
