Around 140 people attended a concert by the Band and Corps of Drums of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (Lancashire). The performance was held at Norden High School and organised by the Great Harwood and Rishton Rotary Club.

Ann-Marie Etherington, of the club, said concert-goers were treated to a ‘magical musical display’ by the band and it is the second time they have performed in Hyndburn in recent years.

Around £1,000 was raised from tickets and a raffle and proceeds will go towards funding new defibrillators for the area.

Anne-Marie, from Great Harwood, said there was ‘something for everyone’ at the concert including military marches, film scores, Broadway showstoppers and Frank Sinatra.

She said: “As the evening drew to a close, Col. Eric Davidson asked all audience members to pause for a moment and remember all the hundreds of Fusiliers, amongst others, who fell at Gallipoli 100 years ago.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the evening drew to a close and the sound of the Regimental March of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers began to resonate around the school hall.”
