‘Leaping’ Elsie Ramonde North timed her entry into the world to perfection, arriving at Burnley Birth Centre on February 29.

Bundle of joy Elsie weighed in at 6lb 12 oz when she was delivered into proud mum Madeline Bolton’s arms at 7.51pm on leap Monday.

Dad Mark North, 26, from Accrington, and sister Emily Bolton were also on hand to grab a cuddle.

Elsie is one of four million ‘leaplings’ on the planet to arrive on the once-every-four-years date.

Former St Christopher’s High school pupil Madeline, 24, is now back at home in Accrington.

She said: “I arrived yesterday dinner time and was induced. It all happened quite quickly.

"We knew it was going to be a girl before she was born. Everything well really well and it went fine.

“I don’t know anybody else who has a birthday on a leap year so she is the first.

"It won’t be too much different apart she will only be able to have a birthday every four years.”

Elsie is the sister of Hayden, Abigail, Darcy and Isabella and the granddaughter of Judith Onuorah.
