A man is taking on one of the toughest fitness challenges in the world to represent the UK.

Sean Williams from Rishton is travelling to Las Vegas in November to take part in the World’s Toughest Mudder competition.

He will have to complete a gruelling 24- hour obstacle challenge, with twice the amount of obstacles per mile than any other Tough Mudder course.

The winners will be chosen by who has completed the most laps in 24 hours from 10am on November 15 to 10am on November 16.

World’s Toughest Mudder is a competition, with three official categories designed to find the toughest man, woman, and 4+ person team on the planet.

Entrants must complete a 75-mile course with 330 obstacles in 24 hours.

Sean, 25 is taking part to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

He said: “I’m ex army myself, I was part of the artillery. I competed in the Tough Mudder event last weekend in Cheshire and out of 400 people I came second. The guy who came first beat me by 100 metres, I was gutted.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge in November, but I’m a bit nervous.”

As well as taking part in the Tough Mudder challenge, Sean is also training by running and cycling from his job as a personal trainer in Burnley to his home on St Charles Road in Rishton.

He said: “At the moment I’m doing about 50 miles a week, but I’m hoping to get that up to 100 the closer I get to the competition.

“I’m taking part in the Tough Mudder in London next month, and on my way back, I’m going to try and run from Manchester city centre at midnight and try and get home before it’s light.

“My aim is to finish in the top 10 per cent at the Las Vegas competition.”
