An Accrington man is celebrating the season of goodwill by providing Christmas dinner for needy families.

Stuart Tilley is buying a full Christmas meal for four families and has inspired family and friends to also donate gifts.

Stuart, who works in customer services for Eon, decided he did not need his festive bonus and instead decided to help a family enjoy a merry Christmas.

Stuart posted his idea on a ‘Need not Greed’ community website and was so ‘overwhelmed’ by the response to the plan he resolved to help not one, but four families.

He said: “I’m a normal working guy who works hard for a normal salary, however this year I have decided to help four families on hard times and I’m providing Christmas for them and their kids.

“I have told family and friends of what I’m doing and now I’m getting donated presents for the kids, so when I show up to these families’ houses on Christmas Eve with a Christmas meal what they won’t be expecting is the amount of presents I will bring.

“I just hope that this will inspire more people to do the same.”
