Members of the Royal British Legion, the mayor of Hyndburn and Hyndburn councillors observed a two-minute silence outside Accrington Town Hall to mark Armistice Day, the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, in this special year 2011.

Among councillors to honour our war dead were council leader Miles Parkinson and opposition leader Peter Britcliffe.

A maroon flare over the Arndale Centre marked the start of the silence.
