SINGING sensation Diana Vickers is definitely from East Lancashire but which town – Accrington or Blackburn?

On The X Factor she is regularly referred to as "Little Diana from Blackburn’’.

On the other hand Hyndburn Council had asked her to switch on Accrington’s Christmas lights ... an honour traditionally reserved for people with a connection to the town.

On last week’s show, footage of Diana’s house in "Blackburn’’ was shown when she made a surprise visit home.

But the Observer can reveal the film was in fact of her mum’s house in Accrington.

Solving the mystery, Diana said: "I was born in Blackburn but spent the first part of my life in Accrington.

"My family then moved back to Blackburn when I was young and I go to school there.

"But my parents are now separated and I live with my mum in Accrington."

She also said returning to the town last week was very emotional.

Diana added: "I was crying when I got on my own road. There are so many memories there. It was really good being with my mum and sister Charlotte."

When asked why she never refers to Accrington in interviews, she explained: "Since I am dubbed ‘Little Diana from Blackburn’ I have gone along with it because it would get confusing for viewers who don’t know the area.

"But I want to let the world know I love Accrington. My mum is there and I do live there."
