HANDSOME giant Adam Machaj has been crowned Hyndburn’s hunkiest man after beating off opposition from 21 other hopefuls in our great competition.

Adam, 21, of Exchange Street, Accrington, was a hit with our readers who voted him into top spot.

The 6ft 6in doorman, who weighs a muscly 19 stone, often visits the gym and enjoys boxing. He is currently trying to join the Royal Marines but describes himself as shy and sensitive.

When told the good news, he was stunned.

He said: "I’m really shocked. I didn’t expect to win. I didn’t even expect to come in the top five.

"I only entered as a bit of a laugh after being given a nudge by my mum, Deborah Starkie, and girlfriend Lulu Rodriguez, 19. My mum will be really proud of me."

He added: "It has been a good competition and I have been buying the paper every week. I know quite a few of the other lads who entered."

Adam said he would probably spend the £100 prize money on a romantic meal for Lulu, who he has been dating for two years.

He also wins a year’s gym membership at Flex and Fitness in Victoria Street, Accring-ton, and a portfolio of pictures taken by one of our photographers, which would will help him pursue his ambition of modelling.

The runner-up, just two votes behind, was 34-year-old butcher Martin Evans, of Avenue Parade, Accrington, and in third place was 19-year-old sales assistant Dominic Daly, of Howarth Avenue, Church.
