POLICE are hunting for two men who launched a vicious attack on a 25-year-old woman on Saturday.

They say the incident happened while the woman was walking along Blackburn Road near the junction with Scaitcliffe Street, Accrington.

She was approached by the pair who started arguing with her before beating her around the head.

She sustained injuries including a bruised eye and was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.

The first attacker is described as Asian, five feet 10 inches tall, and of large build. He had long curly black hair and wore two gold chains around his neck and another on his wrist. He wore a green baggy jumper and Adidas tracksuit bottoms which were either blue or black. He also had distinctive purple trainers.

The second man is described as Asian, five feet six inches tall and of skinny build. He had distinctive gold-framed glasses and short black hair shaved in a "tramlines'' style. He wore a top which was either black or blue and had distinctive holes in the arms.

Detective Constable Mark Winstanley said: "This is an attack on a woman in which she sustained injuries and we are keen to trace the offenders. However, I would like to reassure people that this was an isolated incident and we are treating it as such."
