Proposals to build six new homes in Huncoat have been submitted to Hyndburn council.

D and J Leitherd have submitted plans for new four bedroom homes with double garages on land off Lower Gate Road.

The application submitted to the council includes provisions for an access road from Lower Gate.

The design statement submitted on behalf of the applicant by agent Alan Kinder of Avalon Town Planning states all of the units would have two off-street parking spaces as well as garages.

It says: “The reason for the submission of this application stems from the fact that our clients wish to develop a small scale residential scheme on this urban fringe site which lies within the urban boundary in order to provide a select development of family/executive type homes for which there is a proven need within the borough.

“Access to the site is to be gained via a single combined pedestrian and vehicular junction with Lower Gate Road.

“The road is to be constructed to access way standards to ensure its residential suitability but equally to avoid the future potential for commercial usage.”

The application has received one letter of objection over concerns about loss of countryside.

The council’s planning department will consider the application at a later date.
