FIREBUGS have been targetting allottments at the rear of Perth Street, Accrington.

Firefighters from Accrington say they have attended four incidents there over the last two weeks.

Two of these have been during the Easter holidays this week.

The first was on Tuesday when the rear wall and roof of an allotment building was severely damaged by fire.

Firefighters spent about 30 minutes tackling the blaze and believe youths are probably to blame as the owner saw a group running away from the site.

The second happened at 5.20am this morning, when a timber outbuilding was set alight and 30 per cent destroyed by fire.

The firefighters spent 30 minutes dealing with it and youths were again seen in the area.

The police have been informed about both incidents and are investigating.
