A FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD girl was violently attacked by yobs in the street as she made her way to school.

She was punched in the head by one male, knocking her to the floor, and then kicked in the ribs by other males before the gang fled the scene.

Her father, who asked to go unnamed for his daughter's safety, was so sickened by the attack he put up a £200 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

Sergeant Mark Porter said: "It seems to have been a completely random attack with no motive on a 14-year-old girl on her way to school.

"We are asking anyone who may have seen the incident or knows anything about it to come forward."

The Moorhead High School pupil was making her way to school just before 8.30am on 8 November when the attack took place in Westwood Street near the junction with Queen's Road West.

The girl was taken to hospital and received treatment for minor injuries.

She was so shaken by the attack she was unable to give police a detailed description of her attackers.

Her father said: "She is badly shaken up and it has really affected our family.

"I am having to run her everywhere and she still has a lot of pain in her ribs."

He added: "It is out of order that there is someone out there who could strike again and I want to get them off the street.

"I don't know if there just wasn't anyone around at the time or if somebody saw what was happening but was too scared to get involved.

"To try and help the police in finding these animals I am offering a £200 reward to anybody that provides information leading an arrest."
