A woman from Clayton-le-Moors who supports her local scout group and Sunday school has been crowned a community hero.

Claire Rothwell was nominated by residents for her generous work which aims to encourage the personal development of youngsters from an early age.

For the past 10  years Claire has been a role model to many children, running a popular local scout group.

She helped raise £4,000 for the scout group last year and is planning more events to attract further funds.

Claire has been named a community hero in a competition organised by Cartridge World to recognise and reward people for their hard work and dedication to worthwhile causes.  She was presented with a special hamper filled with delicious goodies worth £50 by Darren Turner, owner of the Accrington store.

He said: “Hearing how much Claire dedicates to her local scout group and Sunday school is really inspiring, so it was a pleasure to say thank you and give something back to someone who clearly dedicates their time to helping others.”
