HYNDBURN'S cutest kids have been chosen from the hundreds of entrants in our annual Baby of the Year competition after a huge readers' vote.
Tia Mae Ward, of Heys Court, Oswaldtwistle, took the title of Baby of the Year, with Aaron Whelan just two votes behind in second place and Callum Walsh in third.
Toddler of the Year is Benjamin Read, of Warmden Avenue, Baxenden, with Kian Park second and Megan Stephens third.
Tia and Benjamin have been basking in the glory of being crowned the bonniest baby and top tot and posed for an Observer photo-shoot at Tia's family home.
Tia, who is now 21 months old, lives with parents Alison, a housewife, and Ian, a shift manager for the Accrington Brush Company.
The tot, who has blue eyes and light red hair, attends First Class Nursery in Dill Hall Lane, Church.
Proud mum Alison said: "I am overjoyed that she has won. I couldn't believe it.
"She is very demanding. She has to play with you all the time, she won't play on her own, and she loves being out and about. She likes going to the park and kicking her ball about and she is very quick for her age."
Benjamin, who is 27 months old, lives with his parents Andrea, a pharmacy assistant at EB Haworth in Great Harwood, and Philip, an electrical engineer manager for Siemens in Manchester.
Andrea said: "He was in the competition last year as a baby and he won his group but didn't succeed in the final. I am absolutely delighted. I have been telling everybody."
Describing blond-haired, blue-eyed Benjamin, who was born six weeks prematurely, she said: "He is very loving and very playful. He is a typical little boy who loves playing in sand and water."
The winners each get a large framed portrait from the competition co-sponsors The Garth Dawson Studio and £50. A presentation will be arranged at a later date.
