A garden is now flourishing thanks to members of Baxenden Community Forum.
Last year the group received a grant from the Lancashire Environment Fund (LEF) and the Lottery Community Spaces fund to create a Rose Garden at Haworth park.
Members planted 600 roses and even won an LEF award for their hard work and an extra £500.
The group used the money to buy and plant bulbs to bring some colour to the garden in early spring before the roses bloom.
Sheila McVan, secretary of the community forum, said because of the bad weather the flowers took a while to bloom but crocuses and daffodils are now springing up in the garden.
She added: “Because the garden had been neglected for so long people may still not know that it is now such a wonderful place to visit and a credit to the team of volunteers that have worked together on the planting.”
Baxenden Community Forum meets on the fourth Monday of the month at the Alma pub, Manchester Road, Baxenden.
The next meeting is on May 20 due to the Bank Holiday.
