Rishton’s first ever beer festival will be held next month to raise money for charity.

Bosses at Rishton Conservative Club said the proceeds will go towards Guide Dogs UK

They are aiming to raise a target of £2,500 when they will even be given the honour of naming a dog.

David Lees, of the club, said the festival will be the first of many fundraising activities to achieve their funding target.

Other activities in the pipeline include a crown green bowling competition in the new year and music nights to raise more funds.

He said: “We want to raise £2,500 over the next 12 months and if we do that then we can get permission to name a dog.

“I want the festival to be a launch event for that and we will have other events over the year.

“The beer festival has been driven by my passion for cask beer and as far as I know this is the first one of its kind in Rishton.

“I’m wanting to tie it in with our fundraising for Guide Dogs UK.

“Hopefully it will be well supported and if that happens then we can repeat it again.”

The festival will be held on the evening of Friday, September 26 and from midday on Saturday, September 27.

It will feature 15 beers and three ciders and entry is free with donations requested towards the charity.

The club’s model railway group will also have a WW1-themed display.

David added: “It’s free admission but we are asking for donations to go towards the charity.

“It won’t be inside the club but at the back of the club next to the bowling green.

“We will have some local beers and a few from farther afield.

“We want it to be a great event and to get as many people along to it as we can.”
