Care home residents have had their gardens given a complete makeover.

Plants at Woodlands Home for Older People in Clayton-le-Moors have been given a new lease of life thanks to help from the Homebase store in Accrington.

Jena Balmbra, manager of the care home, got in touch to say the gardens needed a facelift.

The weather was not in their favour but it did not dampen the spirits of the team. The plan was to create a seaside escape, and an oriental memorial garden with a water fountain donated by Alice Bracewell’s family.

Jena said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to the Homebase team, Rob, Paul, Nick, Theresa and Kirsty, family members and staff for donating their valuable time.

“You have not only enhanced the aesthetics at Woodlands but the wellbeing of 44 service users.”
