Unlocked cars have been targeted in a spate of thefts across Rishton.

Thieves helped themselves to property from several parked vehicles on Devonshire Road, Windermere Drive, Cornwall Road, Somerset Road and Church Street.

They also struck at some sheds and garages on the same streets, causing criminal damage.

The incidents happened overnight between Sunday, July 6 and Monday, July 7.

Police received a call at 2.50am on July 7 reporting that two men in dark clothing with their hoods up were trying car doors.

PCSO Steven Charnley said: “As there has been a spate of bicycle thefts from rear yard sheds in Rishton over the last two months, the police are asking residents to be vigilant and to ensure vehicles, garages and sheds are secured.

“Mountain bikes, tools, sat navs and frozen food have been stolen.”
