A celebrity chef and Spitfire are among highlights announced for this year’s 2016 Accrington Food and Drink Festival.

Last year’s event was a huge success with more than 10,000 people attending and organisers are looking to make this year’s bigger and better.

Alongside an array of regional food stalls people can expect live cookery demonstrations with celebrity chef Richard Fox and activities for children such as cake decorating.

The centenary of the famous ‘Accrington Pals’ battalion suffering devastating losses on the first day of the Battle of Somme during World War I will also be marked by activities and displays involving uniformed actors.

Planning is well under way for the event which will be held in Broadway on Saturday, June 4.

Murray Dawson, from one of the event organisers Scott Dawson Advertising, is particularly looking forward to a Spitfire being displayed.

He said: “That and the other attractions puts the festival on the map as the must-see event this year!”

Uniform supplier Simon Jersey and training provider North Lancs Training Group have also been announced as Gold Sponsors for this year’s event aiming to make the festival even more of an outstanding success.
