Accrington Academy’s fleet footed cheerleaders left the competition standing when they took first place at a major dance and cheerleading contest.
The ‘Jungle Fever’ event was the first themed Cheer and Dance contest of the 2014-15 season and saw teams from across the North West dancing it out in a variety of categories.
All those taking part competed on a 54ft wide by 42ft deep sprung floor, with all Dance Teams using a 50ft wide by 36ft Harlequin Dance Floor. The Academy made its mark with the judges with its Level 3 Senior Cheerleading Team taking first place in their category.
The Obliviate Jazz Team also took second place in Jazz Dance and the Sparks Level 1 team also took second place in Junior Cheerleading.
Academy Principal Andy O’Brien said: “A big ‘well done’ to our cheerleading teams, who have once again shown that they can take on the very best and come out on top.”
