Youngsters are being warned of the dangers of entering derelict buildings after several fires at a disused factory.

Alistair Cameron, acting crew manager at Hyndburn Fire Station, said a building off Rhyddings Street in Oswaldtwistle has been broken into several times in recent weeks.

The latest incident happened on Sunday, June 1 at around 9pm and firefighters needed to climb over a  fence to gain access and put out the flames.

Mr Cameron said: “There's been a number of small fires after kids have gone inside. It's a very dangerous place for them to be playing around.

“It could cause them problems and makes it more dangerous for us because the factory is blocked off.

“We had to go through a car park on Watson Street and a fence to get into the property.”
