Banners commemorating the Accrington Pals have been presented to a concert band.
The Accrington Lions donated the music stand banners to the East Lancashire Concert Band for use at their First World War commemoration events.
They bear the words ‘Accrington Pals – Remembering 100 Years’ in a design produced by Hyndburn Council and also included is the badge of the Accrington Lions.
The presentation was made by Lions president Caz Moreton to band chairman Alan Isherwood on Broadway in Accrington and they were joined on the day by Hyndburn Mayor Munsif Dad and MP Graham Jones.
Mr Isherwood said: “We are proud to be able to display our historic links with the Accrington Pals in this way.”
The band will perform at a special Pals concert at Accrington Town Hall on September 27.
The date will also mark 100 years since the then newly-formed Pals Battalion marched past the Town Hall before heading into battle.
The Observer revealed last year how distinguished composer Dr Peter Meechan had been signed up by the band to create a special piece of music for the event.
