Council bosses have returned hanging baskets put up by mistake following complaints from residents.
Councillors in Oswaldtwistle asked for hanging baskets to be installed around Rhyddings Park, but some were mistakenly also put up around Stanhill.
Conservative Oswaldtwistle councillor Peter Britcliffe said some villagers had incorrectly been told that he had asked for the baskets to be removed.
He said: “The council came along and put the hanging baskets up for the village fete, and by Monday they had disappeared.
“Apparently residents were told I had asked for them to be removed, but by Tuesday three of them had come back.
“At first I thought they had been borrowed for the Oswaldtwistle Carnival, but that wasn’t the case.”
Councillor Ken Moss, Labour’s portfolio holder for parks on Hyndburn council, confirmed the mistake.
He said: “This year the councillors in Oswaldtwistle asked for hanging baskets to be installed around Rhyddings Park.
“Unfortunately when the hanging baskets were being installed some were also put up in Stanhill, and were taken down when the mistake was discovered.
“As it was the Stanhill Village fete, I spoke to the parks department and asked them to put some hanging baskets back up.”
