COUNCILLOR Nick Collingridge is on the road to recovery after suffering a heart attack last week.

The Clayton-le-Moors Independent member spent a week in the Royal Blackburn Hospital after being taken ill at his Sparth Road home in the early hours of the morning.

He spent Tuesday of this week as a day patient in the Coronary Care Centre of Excellence at Blackpool Victoria Hospital having a stent fitted.

It was 58-year-old Councillor Collingridge’s third heart attack.

He said: “I knew straightaway what it was; once you‘ve had one heart attack you know. I’m all right now. I’m having a few days’ rest and in another week I’ll be back working as a councillor.”

Councillor Collingridge, who is married to Judith and has one daughter and three stepsons, retired as a self-employed newsagent after suffering his second heart attack five years ago.
