Two fire crews were called out following reports of a microwave fire in Clayton-le-Moors.

Engines from Hyndburn responded to Sparth Road at around 1.10pm on Thursday, October 20.

There was no fire to extinguish when they arrived but found that burning food had generated fumes and used a portable fan unit to extract smoke from the kitchen.

A man suffered the effects of breathing smoke and an ambulance was called to carry out precautionary checks.
