Practice nets at Accrington Cricket Club have been vandalised twice in a week.

Police have launched an appeal to find the culprits after the nets at the Thorneholme Road club were damaged on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 8 and most recently on Wednesday, July 9.

PCSO Rebecca Miller, who covers the Church and Milnshaw area, said: “There were a couple of issues last year and now we've had it again a few times in the past few weeks.

“It costs the club, players a staff a lot of time and money to repair and it's cricket season at the moment.

“We have given them crime prevention advice and we are planning regular patrols around the area to try and catch whoever is doing it.

“We can't say if it's the same people causing it as last year. The problem up there is they can head off in any direction into the wooded area.

“Hopefully it will only be a matter of time.”
