Fans of cult American TV show Storage Hunters are set for a treat when host Jesse McClure visits Accrington to launch the Market Hall’s new e-commerce website.

Jesse will be in town from 10am on Saturday, September 27, to unveil the website, and challenge shoppers to a Storage Hunters-style auction inside the Market Hall.

Bidders will go head-to-head against him to predict the value of various items with proceeds going towards the Mayor’s charity fund. The website features products from 23 of Accrington’s 70+ stalls, with more to be added regularly once the site is up and running.

The pilot scheme is the brainchild of marketing agency Scott Dawson Advertising, in partnership with Hyndburn council using government funding.

Jesse said: “Each time I visit Accrington I get the warmest welcome and I simply can’t wait to come back and help launch this fantastic new website. Come on down, bid against me, raise some money for great charities and find out how you can shop your local market online.”

Clare Cleary, Hyndburn council’s cabinet member for markets, said: “The way we shop is changing so we need to market our wonderful, traditional market hall in a modern way. It’s a real community effort and we’re proud to unveil the end result.”

Jesse will also appear at Accrington Stanley later that afternoon when he takes part in a ‘crossbar challenge’ at the club’s match with Plymouth Argyle, which kicks off at 3pm. If Jesse hits the target he will raise £10,000 for the club in the challenge, also being sponsored by Scott Dawson Advertising.

Following the game Jesse wil take part in a Q and A session and a Storage Hunters-style auction in the Crown pub on Whalley Road.
