A cyclist has suffered ‘serious head injuries’ after a collision with a bike.

Police said the 23-year-old man, from Church, was travelling along Hyndburn Road in Accrington when he was involved in a collision with a black Volkswagen Golf at 8.30pm on Wednesday, January 6.

He sustained serious head injuries and his condition is described as ‘stable’.

Lancashire Police said the driver initially stopped at the scene but failed to leave any contact details and left the scene before the police arrived.

Road policing officer Sgt Sean Cunningham said: “I am really keen to find the driver of the car to get their version of events.

“It may have been that the driver just panicked or didn’t realise that they needed to stop and wait for us to arrive.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident reference number 1313 of January 6.
