Police are appealing after a cyclist was injured in a hit-and-run.

The 52-year-old male bike rider was riding along Haslingden Old Road in Oswaldtwistle near to De Niro's restaurant when a white vehicle collided with him and knocked him off his bike.

The car stopped a short distance away until he got up and then was seen driving off in the direction of Haslingden.

The cyclist was treated in the back of the ambulance at the scene for cuts and bruises to the legs.

The incident happened at around 6.30pm on Thursday, July 17.

PC Mike Smith, of the Eastern Road Policing Unit, said: “This could have potentially been a very serious accident and the cyclist is lucky to have walked away with minor injuries.

“I would appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision or who saw a white vehicle in the area at around this time to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to the driver themselves to come forward and speak to us.”
