TWO talented nine-year-olds from a Clayton-le-Moors dance school took home an armful of silverware from a national competition.

Callum Slinger and Chelsea Horsfall, both members of the Royal School of Dance, Mercer Street, wowed the judges at a freestyle contest in Ayr, Scotland.

Nine-year-old Callum took first prize in the hip-hop doubles section and show dance and came third in the grand final of the contest.

Chelsea won second place for beginners' doubles and first place for showdance. She also came fifth in the competition finals.

Callum's mum Andrea Slinger, of The Triangle, Huncoat, said: "When Callum performed the whole room erupted with applause.

"He did a version of the Peter Sellers' song Goodness Gracious Me and the judges had tears in their eyes with crying."
