After storming her way to the top of the official UK charts with her debut single Once, Diana Vickers has continued her success by taking the coveted top spot with her album.

The Huncoat singer went straight in at number one with her debut album – Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree – after it was released on May 3, two weeks after celebrating her single success.

The 18-year-old former X Factor contestant also kicked off her second major UK tour over the weekend playing Liverpool’s O2 Arena on Saturday night to rave reviews.

Since finishing fourth on the X Factor in 2008, Diana, who is signed to RCA Records, has been taking her time in pursuing her pop career to make sure she would be seen as a credible artist.

And in the two years away from the popular telly talent show she has also made a name for herself in acting – taking on the lead role in the Rise And Fall of Little Voice in the West End.

Her talents on stage were so well received she was named ‘London Newcomer of the Year’ in the What’s On Stage Awards.
