POLICE in Hyndburn are urging motorists to take extra care during the difficult weather conditions.
A number of the county’s main roads are flooded due to torrential rain.
There have also been a number of minor collisions throughout the week leading to lengthy delays for some road users.
Some of the roads affected are the A59 at Gisburn, and all the motorway networks.
Inspector Phil Cottam from the Motorway Unit said: "The adverse weather and the downpours make driving conditions very difficult and we would urge people to take extra care.
"I advise drivers slow down, use dipped headlights, avoid driving into standing water unless you have to and do so with extreme caution and test your brakes.
"Motorists should allow extra time to make their journeys and also check local travel bulletins to see what roads are closed and avoid those particular areas."
