POLICE have charged two people with wounding a 34-year-old man following an incident in Oswaldtwistle town centre last Friday night.
Ian Whelan, 27, of Wordsworth Road, Accrington, and a 15-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons will appear at Hyndburn Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
The charges follow an incident in outside the Co-op store in Union Road in the early hours of Saturday morning after the alleged victim, an aircraft fitter, had been drinking with a friend in the Golden Cross.
He was allegedly punched and kicked until he was unconscious, and suffered a fractured eye socket, a detached retina of the left eye, damage to his right eye, multiple bruising and grazing to his head, arms and body.
Police have expressed fears that his injuries will leave him unable to return to his work, which includes precision engineering.
