Youngsters from Hyndburn were victorious at an annual games tournament.

The Hyndburn Ribble Valley Games 2016 was held at Bowley Scout Camp and Activity Centre, on Dean Lane in Great Harwood.

Eight teams of young people between the ages of eight and 19 took part from children’s centres, youth clubs and youth councils in Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

They competed to win the champions trophy and the honour of being the overall winner and activities included archery and a cooking contest.

The winners were The Zone Hyndburn Multi Sports, who won by 112 points.

The event was organised by Lancashire County Council’s Wellbeing, Prevention and Early Help Young People’s Service (WPEH).

County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “The emphasis of each activity was on the teams working together to complete the various challenges, with the aim of earning valuable points for their team.

“Although we had to have an overall winner on the day, the true value of these annual games really is the taking part.”
