Two people were treated for minor burns after an ‘explosion’ at the Accrington Food and Drink Festival.

Fire crews from Hyndburn were called to a food stall on Broadway at around 12.20pm on Saturday, June 6 after the wind caused gas on a cooking range to ignite.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said this caused a ‘small explosion’ and two people were treated at the scene for burns to their head and arms. They did not attend hospital.

Around 10,000 visitors flocked to the town centre for the festival, with more than 50 food stalls to tempt visitors with a huge selection of favourite dishes.
