THIS is the face of a sex beast who committed a serious assault on a 56-year-old woman.
Police hunting the attacker revealed this week that he had previously approached other women in the Scaitcliffe area of Accrington.
And Detective Sergeant Nigel Watson warned women to be on their guard, particularly late at night and early in the morning.
He said: "People in that area need to be aware of their own personal safety and stick to well-lit areas and main roads."
The attack happened as the middle-aged woman was walking along Ormerod Street, near to the junction of Victoria Street and Brown Street, at about 7am on Tuesday last week.
The man asked her the time before forcing her against a wall where the attack took place.
A witness said she was pushed over the wall onto her back. Her legs were dangling over the wall and she screamed.
After an appeal in last week's Observer several women came forward to say they had been approached by the man and police have been able to produce this artist's impression.
DS Watson said: "Although they were not physically attacked, they were approached and spoken to by a man matching this description in suspicious circumstances.
"We are treating it very seriously and need help from members of the public to identify this individual."
The attacker is an Asian man, aged between 18 and 25. He is about 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with broad shoulders. He has a lot of stubble around his face and a distinctive hook-shaped nose. His skin is darker around the eyes.
He was wearing a grey or beige hooded jacket with a logo on the front and no zip, two T-shirts and dark trousers.
DS Watson added: "This was an unprovoked assault on an innocent woman who was left extremely shaken and I urge anyone who knows anything about it to come forward."
