Nine firefighters were called to a smoke-filled factory in Huncoat yesterday.

The single-storey building on Enfield Road, used to store and sell pallets, was reported as alight at 5.20pm on Monday.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two fire engines from Hyndburn attended the fire. There was smoke coming from the roof after a skip containing wood inside the building became well alight. Firefighters used breathing apparatus to get inside the smoke engulfed building. Smoke was pouring out of the roof but it was not a major blaze."

It took fire teams just under an hour to clear the smoke from the factory which was severely damaged in the incident.
