ARSONISTS struck twice in Accrington over the weekend.

Fire crews were called to a house in Chester Street, Accrington at 8.20pm on Sunday to reports that a back garden gate was ablaze. It is thought that a nearby pile of rubbish had been set on fire, setting the gate alight. The gate was completely destroyed during the incident but the fire did not spread.

And firefighters were called to Stevenson Street West in Accrington at 6am on Sunday after a car was deliberately set alight.
