A BAXENDEN student has taken his school by storm by achieving four A grade A Levels.

Thomas Pilkington, 17, of Back Lane, is a student at Blackburn’s Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and was this week one of the small few to gain straight A's in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Maths.

Thomas will now go on to study Medicine at Edinburgh University.

Simon Corns, Headteacher at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School said: “It was good to see subjects often perceived as difficult, such as Physics and German, able to record 100 per cent pass rate at grades A or B. Able and motivated students still need good teachers and our standards remain high. I know that my teaching colleagues feel that their hard work has paid dividends with this set of results.”
