Easter egg hunts, afternoon teas, procession walks and pedal powered baskets are just some of the fun activities happening across the borough this weekend.

Families and children are being invited to Oswaldtwistle Mills on Good Friday and Easter Monday between 10am and 12noon, and 1pm and 3pm, to find coloured eggs hidden around the grounds.

The winners will get a giant money box lollipop and will be entered into a Golden Egg lucky dip. Entry cost £2.

Accrington Arndale Centre is also giving youngsters the chance to meet Alice and the Mad Hatter, ride along the mall in a pedal powered Easter basket and also have their pictures taken, receive balloons and get their face painted for free.

The event will take place on Easter Saturday, March 26 from 11am to 4pm.

A Good Friday ‘Stations of the Cross’ walk has been organised from Avenue Parade in Accrington at 11.15am followed by an Easter Sunday ‘Prayers at the Summit’ walk on the Coppice, meeting at the foot of the cross at 7.30am.

The annual Walk for the Cross in Great Harwood will start on the Town Hall Square at 11.30am on Good Friday.

At the end of the walk the cross will be erected on Memorial Park, where the service will end at 12noon.

Afternoon tea will also be served at Churchfield House in Great Harwood on Easter Sunday from 12noon to 2pm.

Trinity Community Church in Accrington will hold a Good Friday service at 10.30am for all ages, followed by refreshments and hot cross buns.

They will also hold other services on Easter Sunday.

Champ Funeral Service in Clayton-le-Moors has also announced the winner of its annual Easter drawing competition in aid of Derian House Children’s Hospice.

Former Blackburn Rovers footballer David Dunn chose Kay Pickin’s entry as the winning picture.

The nine-year-old St Wulstan’s RC Great Harwood pupil was awarded with an Easter hamper.

The annual drawing competition is run for children aged up to 11 and for each entry Champ donated £1 to Derian House.
