WITH money still coming in, Ryan's Appeal now stands at a whopping £11,755.
Our campaign to send the Accrington boy with an incurable skin condition on the holiday of a lifetime has gone from strength to strength. And it is all thanks to you. As well as a big donation from Accrington Rotary Club, the appeal was also boosted this week by employees of travel firm Tradewinds, who raised £163.75 through a cake sale and casual clothes day.
We now have more than enough to send eight-year old Ryan Cottrell and his family, who live in Carter Street, to meet Santa in Lapland. So we are no longer appealing for donations or organised events.
However, events already organised include an auction at Oswaldtwistle Mills; a Halloween party tonight at Si on Blackburn Road, Accrington; a sponsored chest wax and fun day at Accrington Stanley function room on 7 November; a charity car wash at Baxenden Autowash on 20 November; and a family night at the Brooks Club in Accrington on 1 December.
This week's other donations were: £20 from Barnes of Accrington; £50 from the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes; £5 from Chris Leather; £5 from Dave Ashworth; £5 from Greg Hunter; £10 from Lesley Hunter; £5 from Russell Brown; £10 from Sue Crook; £5 from Keely at Woodnook Primary School; and £20 anonymous. In addition a 49-foot Scalextric set was donated anonymously.
