Accrington Lions are holding a night at the musicals in aid of a Rishton youngster’s charity.

The club has organised a ‘magic of the musicals’ themed fun night themed fun night to raise cash for Tiffany’s Wheels.

Tiffany Wrigley, of Danvers Street, Rishton was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, a disorder that affects the central nervous system last year and needs round the clock care.

The local community rallied together to raise money for a specialist wheelchair for Tiffany, 11.

Caz Moreton, president of the Accrington Lions, helped organise the event with the activities team.

She said: “One of the other Lions Wendy Alltree brought us the story of Tiffany at a meeting and said that there was a fundraising night being held for her in Oswaldtwistle. We went along for a night out and then from there I got talking to one of the fundraisers about it.

“She said the fundraising would be ongoing as more money was needed to help her when she got home.

“We had already planned to have a fundraising night in June. I love musicals and a lot of the Lions love fancy dress, so we came up with something a bit different and it just went from there.

“People are coming in musical themed fancy dress, we’re having a musicals quiz, karaoke, supper and local singer Sarah Alexis will also be performing, I really hope its a success.”

Tickets for the event on June 27 at the Civic Arts Centre in Oswaldtwistle are £6.

They are available from Hyndburn Heritage Centre, Edmundsons Sweet shop and the Crown pub.
