What would you want to hear from the next government?

With this year's General Election expected to be one of the most unpredictable in history, politicians have never been more desperate to gain your vote.

So today the Accrington Observer is launching our major online survey aimed at finding out just what your priorities are ahead of May 7's poll.

We will look at the results so we can tell our politicians what the people of our region really wants.

Our poll features 30 national and local questions on key subjects including the NHS, education, immigration, crime, the environment and the economy.

Do you want to stay in the European Union? Should we use fracking to power the country? Is austerity working? How do we preserve our NHS for the next generation?

What do the politicians need to know?

These are some of the pressing national questions we will be asking, but there also questions relating to specific local concerns..

The questions have been compiled so we can build a detailed picture of your electoral wishes.

With exactly 10 weeks to go before polling day, analysts remain more unclear than ever what the next government will look like.

Labour and the Tories remain virtually neck-and-neck in the polls – but neither are firmly demonstrating enough support to take power alone.

Smaller parties such as the Liberal Democrats, Greens and Ukip are all in with a chance to shape what happens after May 7.

Yet people are also switching off from politics in their droves. So this is our chance to tell them – in detail – what really matters to the people of Hyndburn.

When the so-called 'short campaign' – which kicks off once parliament dissolves at the end of this month – gets going, we will take your views to the leaders on your behalf.
