A mischievous moggy from Oswaldtwistle has leaped its way into the finals of a competition to find Britain’s most adventurous cat.

Gerbil the cat’s embarrassing exploits wowed judges of the Go-Cat Bobo Awards, who picked him as one of 12 finalists from hundreds of entries from across the country.

He now stands a strong chance of being crowned Britain’s most adventurous feline and bagging owner Sarah Coulson a fantastic holiday prize and a year’s supply of Go-Cat.

Sarah nominated Gerbil because of his habit of presenting her with gifts, most notably when he brought Sarah a bra while she was talking to her builder.

Sarah said: "Gerbil loves bringing me presents, but it was so embarrassing when he presented me with my bra right in front of the builder. I laughed it off, but it has made me more cautious about where I hang my washing in the future."

Daring Gerbil also loves to climb onto doors and up the curtains inside of the house and he has a sneaky knack of managing to get into rooms that have been purposefully shut too.

Go-Cat spokesperson Alison Ashman said: "Over the last few months, we’ve been inundated with stories about thrill-seeking and courageous cats, from cat owners all across the UK, and Gerbil is definitely a strong contender to win the Indoor Cat category, and maybe even the big prize."

If Gerbil wins the top prize, Sarah will be off to Kenya to see really big cats. Gerbil could also be in the running to win the Indoor Cat category which will see his owner win an exciting adventurous experience of her own choice.
