GOLDEN couple Vincent and Joyce Plummer have celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss.

The couple, who live in Bold Street, Accrington, met through mutual friends as youngsters and married at St Paul’s Church in the town on Easter Saturday 1959.

Vincent, 70, worked at Accrington Nori Brick until his retirement, and Joyce, 68, worked for HM Revenue and Customs.

They celebrated their 50th anniversary last Saturday with a party at Accrington Cricket Club for 80 family members and friends, including their four children and 14 grandchildren.

As a special gift their children used a recent photo of the couple and linked it with a photo of them on their wedding day to create a commemorative souvenir.

The couple also received gift vouchers, bottles of spirits and flowers.

Joyce said: "The photo was a complete surprise and it is wonderful.

"The secret to our marriage has been a lot of give and take, and enjoying our time together."
