A MAN researching his family tree has uncovered some amazing "home truths’’ about his immediate family.

Gordon Kenyon, who lives above his hairdressing salon Plus2Hair on Abbey Street, Accrington, has found that his great-great-great- great-grandfather lived in the very same house, according to the 1871 census.

The uncanny fact came to light while sharing information with his cousin and his wife who are also interested in genealogy.

Gordon, 64, said: "What are the odds? I think it’s really spooky and thought it was a mistake at first.

"My wife Marilyn went through the details and said to me: ‘have you had a look at the addresses? Your relative lived here in this very same house.’

"He was called Townley Kenyon, a master tailor, and he and his wife Anne, and children Elizabeth, Charles, Arthur, Eunice, Ernest and Albert, lived in this house at 33 Abbey Street. I know the building is old because the deeds are on parchment.

"I have always felt very comfortable and secure in this house – I don’t know if this is an explanation why.

"I have been here for 35 years now but I remember next door being a garden-fronted house so I presume this must have been the same. I would be interested to know any more information."
