One lucky Hyndburn community group is just a step away from scooping a whopping £1,000 cash boost - thanks to the Accrington Observer.
We have teamed up with Vodafone to offer the exciting cash prize and the deadline for entries has now passed.
We have received entries from local community groups, clubs and charities hoping to be in with a chance of winning the money.
Everyone from members of Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre to the 1st Oswaldtwistle (St Paul’s) Beavers and Cubs have applied for the cash boost.
And the judges are currently in the process of whittling down the entries to a shortlist.
Next week, we will be asking our readers to vote for the charity, group or club that they think is most deserving of a cash boost.
This week, the final entry before the deadline came from Hyndburn Used Furniture.
Manager Lisa Allen said the group would use the money to purchase uniforms and waterproof clothing for volunteers who go out in all weathers.
She said: “Hyndburn Used Furniture are committed to preventing landfill by recycling furniture and white goods. We also help volunteers and people usually socially excluded to gain work experience.”
Vodafone is offering the Community Connection Award to celebrate the opening of its new store in Accrington Arndale Centre.
Members of the winning group must be prepared to pose for a photograph at the new Vodafone store. Full details of a public vote will be revealed next week. Standard Trinity Mirror terms and conditions apply. See www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/rules.
